CSL’s corporate management is overseen by a Board of Directors, which includes CSL’s three owners and six independent directors. In addition to overseeing the company’s business activities, the Board of Directors advises the management team on CSL’s strategic and operational direction.

Paul W. J. Martin is the Chair of the Board of Directors of The CSL Group Inc. as well as an owner of The CSL Group Inc. and Horizon Capital Holdings.
David P. A. Martin is President of Bromart Holdings and an owner of The CSL Group Inc. and Horizon Capital Holdings, of which he is the Co-President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Martin is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the World Wildlife Fund (Canada) and a co-founder and General Partner of Capital for Aboriginal Prosperity and Entrepreneurship Fund (CAPE Fund).
R. James E. Martin is a film and television producer and an owner of The CSL Group Inc. and Horizon Capital Holdings. Mr. Martin began his career marketing films at The Movie Network before working in theatrical distribution with TVA International, a subsidiary of Montreal’s Astral Network. Since 2006, he has been producing features through his own production company, High Treason Productions, and is currently developing a television co-production in partnership with Ciné Télé Action.
Jacques Bougie, formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of Alcan, is currently a Director of KDC-One Inc. and a member of the advisory board of the Montreal Neurological Hospital and Institute. Mr. Bougie has served on the boards of AtkinsRéalis, Atrium Innovations, Alcan Inc., BCE Mobile Communications Inc., Bell Canada, McCain Foods Limited, Royal Bank of Canada, Nova Chemicals Corp., Novelis Inc., RONA Inc., Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. and AbitibiBowater Inc.
Ian L. Edwards is President and Chief Executive Officer of AtkinsRéalis, where he held successively senior roles until his current appointment in October 2019. He joined AtkinsRéalis in 2014 after six years in senior management roles with the Leighton Group, including that of Managing Director, Leighton Asia, India and Offshore. Mr. Edwards is an incorporated Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
Marie-Josée Guérin was Vice-President, Finance, Special Projects in the Americas for Air Liquide from September 2022 to March 2023, Chief Financial Officer, Air Liquide North America, from 2019 to 2022, and Chief Financial Officer, Air Liquide Canada, from 2006 to 2019. Prior to joining Air Liquide, Ms. Guérin spent over 20 years at KPMG, including 10 years as audit partner with public and non-public organizations.
Rhodri J. Harries is Executive Vice-President, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Gildan Activewear based in Montreal. Prior to joining Gildan in 2015, Mr. Harries spent 11 years with Alcan and then Rio Tinto Alcan in several roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, and 15 years at General Motors where he held successive positions of increasing responsibility in finance and business development. Mr. Harries also sits on the Board of Directors of Stella-Jones Inc.
Rod Jones was President and Chief Executive Officer of The CSL Group Inc. from 2008 to 2017. Over his 30-year career with CSL, Mr. Jones led the team that launched CSL Americas and CSL’s international expansion to Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa. He also was a Director on the Board of The Standard Club Board, a P&I insurance club, from 2000 to 2017, where he served as Chair from 2014 to 2017. Prior to CSL, Mr. Jones held management positions at Van Ommeren and Navios Corp.
William (Bill) Linton is a Corporate Director currently serving on the Boards of TMX Group, Inc. and Empire Company Ltd. He served as Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Rogers Communications Inc. from 2005 to 2012, and was Chief Executive Officer of Call-Net Enterprises from 2000 to 2005. Mr. Linton is a Fellow of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also is an active investor and serves as a director of several private companies in the technology and finance industries.
President and Chief Executive Officer
Louis Martel joined Canada Steamship Lines as a Naval Architect in 1997 and transferred to CSL Americas where he became Vice-President, Technical Operations. In April 2012, Mr. Martel was appointed President of Canada Steamship Lines and in 2014 was promoted to Executive Vice-President, CSL Group / President, Canada Steamship Lines. Mr. Martel was named President, CSL International in 2015, and, on April 1, 2017, took the helm of The CSL Group as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Executive Vice-President and Chief Strategic Partnerships Officer
Allister Paterson joined CSL as President of Canada Steamship Lines in January 2015. In 2017 he took on the role of Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, and in April 2019 was appointed Chief Commercial Officer, CSL Group. He was appointed to his current position in April 2024.

Chantal Picard joined CSL Group in November 2009 in the Corporate Finance team and held various roles including Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, Commercial and Senior Director, Business Finance. Ms. Picard was promoted to Vice-President, Commercial for Canada Steamship Lines in October 2021, and to her current position in April 2024.
Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Barnes began his career with CSL in October 2008 as Director of Finance/Controller of CSL Americas. In 2011, he was promoted to Vice-President and Managing Director of CSL Europe in 2012. In 2014, Mr. Barnes returned to CSL Americas where he led commercial operations until his promotion to Chief Financial Officer of The CSL Group in 2020.
Chief Marine and Digital Solutions Officer
Nathalie Sykora joined CSL in 1998 as Project Engineering Assistant on the Forebodies Project team. Following a series of promotions, she was appointed Vice-President, Global Technical Services in 2014 and Vice-President, Technical Operations and Environment for the Canada Steamship Lines fleet in 2016. In January 2017, Ms. Sykora was promoted to Vice-President, Global Fleet Management and, in April 2019, to Chief Global Operations Officer. She was appointed to her current position in April 2024.
Executive Operations Officer
Björn Bijma joined CSL Europe in 2015 as Senior Manager, Technical Operations. In 2016, he moved to CSL Australia where he was promoted Senior Director, Technical Fleet Operations. Mr. Bijma was appointed Vice-President, Global Fleet Management in June 2021 and was named Senior Vice-President, Global Fleet Management in October 2022. He was promoted to his current position in April 2024.
Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer
John Sypnowich joined CSL in December 2008 as Director of Legal Affairs and was appointed to his current position in January 2012.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Stéphanie Aubourg joined CSL in 2016 as Director and Business Partner, Human Resources. She was promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer in September 2019.
Vice-President, Commercial, Canada Steamship Lines
Jonathan White joined CSL in July 2011 and spent his first two years as a member of CSL’s newbuild team. In 2013, he transferred to CSL Europe as Technical Operations Coordinator, and in September 2015, he was promoted to Manager, Strategy and New Business Development. In September 2016, Mr. White transferred to Canada Steamship Lines as Director, Transportation Services before joining CSL Americas in November 2020 as a Regional Director, Commercial. He was promoted to Vice-President, Business Development in October 2022 and to his current position in April 2024.
Vice-President, Commercial, CSL Americas and Pool
Henrik Friis joined CSL Americas in September 2009 as Director of Pool Management. In 2013, he was appointed Senior Director, Marketing and Pool Management, and in 2014, he was promoted Vice-President, Commercial and Pool Management. Mr. Friis took over leadership of the Commercial team at the U.S-based division as Vice-President, CSL Americas and Pool in 2020.
Senior Vice-President, Commercial and Transhipment
Jakob Hansen joined CSL in 2009 and has played a leading role in CSL’s operations in Asia, Europe and transhipment. In January 2017 he was appointed Vice President, Commercial for CSL Europe and Transhipment and Senior Vice-President in 2022.
Vice-President, Commercial, CSL Australia
Daniel Wilson joined CSL Australia in 2013 as Finance Manager. He was promoted Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis in 2017, Regional Director, Commercial in 2020 and then Regional Director, Strategy and Transhipment, in 2021. In November 2023, Mr. Wilson was appointed Vice-President, Commercial, CSL Australia.
Vice-President, Global Technical Services
Frédéric Jauvin joined CSL in February 2016 to lead the Global Technical Services department, bringing with him over 25 years of operational and business experience.
Vice-President, Digital
Jean Fahmy joined CSL in 2021 as Senior Director, Information Technology. In October 2022, he was appointed Vice-President, Digital, responsible for CSL’s business applications, data and information systems.
