CSL Participating in “Great Lakes Storm of 1913” Commemoration Event and Job Fair

2013

For three straight days in November, the “Great Storm of 1913” raged across the Upper Great Lakes, wreaking havoc as it passed, and taking the lives of up to three hundred brave mariners. Of the more than forty ships that were caught up in its wake, at least a dozen foundered and were completely lost, including CSL’s Regina, pictured below.

Also known as the “White Hurricane”, the late autumn tempest brought unimaginable devastation to the local-area communities, and left its mark on the families, friends and widows of the souls that were taken. Maritime life in the Great Lakes was changed forever.

As part of the events being organized by the Port of Goderich and Lake Huron Communities to commemorate the centenary of the storm, CSL will be hosting a booth at the “Careers on the Water and Beyond” Marine Job Fair & Trade Show in Goderich, Ontario on Friday November 8th from 10am to 6pm and Saturday November 9th from 10am to 4pm. The CSL booth will be located in the Knights of Columbus Hall, at 390 Parsons Court. Please feel free to drop by if you are in the area.
