Hywind Tampen offshore wind project

North Sea, Norway

Case study

  • A CSL self-unloading ship supported the installation of 11 small floating foundations for Hywind Tampen’s 107.5 meter wind turbines.
  • CSL designed a solution to stabilize the foundations and ensure safe, environmentally friendly  and efficient ballasting without touching the spars or relying on shore equipment.
  • The self-unloading ship made it possible to lower the center of gravity of the floating foundations by ballasting close to 80,000 tonnes of 0-40 millimeter Olindense ballast materials into the spar foundations.
